Hello again from a very Rainy North Wales.
Lots of news to catch up on.
As most of you know, Melys had a grand Christmas, the Christmas Peel session/Carols from
John Peels house went down fantastically well, and the band were chuffed to be invited back the next morning for breakfast with the great man and his lovely wife Sheila...Rice Crispies have never tasted so good we can tell you now!
Just when things couldn't get any better.......Yes, the festive 50.
Melys were pleased enough with "I Don't believe in you" being at number 31 but trying to describe the moment when we heard the first few bars of "Chinese Whispers" at number 1
is pretty much impossible to explain. It is a moment that everyone here will cherish, especially as Gary from the band was rumoured to have run up the road half naked, jumping into every puddle he could see before becoming madly pissed on Red wine and Champagne that was robbed from a hotel nightporter, down the road. It was also rumoured that Sir Peel himself shed a little tear at the fine result, but we can't possibly verify that!!!
As we approach February, we are just starting to catch our breath a little, we have got a stunning album from the brilliant Derrero
"Comb the Breaks" is a 13 song album that is a must.
The band recorded it at our little Sylem studio last summer and is the first Sylem release of the year.
Release date is set for MARCH 25th.

A new album from Melys is being recorded as we speak, the schedule for release looks to be about September.
for those that can't wait that long, there is a European "Introducing Melys" type album out on Dutch Label

hello there, sorry for the delay in updating this site.
The new Single from Melys will be out on November 5th.
latest news is we are to play YET another Peel session on 20th December!!
This will be the 7th time we have recorded studio or live sessions for the John Peel show and very honoured we are too!!
It will be very special for us as it is to be held at Johns house as part of his Christmas show, we are looking for some cool Welsh Christmas carols as we speak!!
The official 3rd album from MELYS , "Dirty" will now be out later in the year 2002.
This is due to our Dutch friends at Transformed Dreams records in Amsterdam, releasing an "introducing" album through Europe, featuring both New and Old songs from past releases. This will be called "SUIKERSPIN" which roughly translated means Candyfloss.
There will be a VERY LIMITED few available in UK on import, so keep your eyes peeled.
This should be available in February.
Derrero have delivered their new album to us and we are presently awaiting a title for it.
This WILL be released in February also.
We are holding back all tour dates for the new year and in all probability it will be a joint MELYS/DERRERO tour.

SYLEM NEWS AUGUST 2001.
Hello, Derrero are finishing their new album here at Camp Sylem and bloody great it sounds too.
It should be hitting the shops in the 1st week of November. As yet there is no title, but will keep this page updated.
The new MELYS single "Chinese Whispers" now has a release date.
It will be out on November 5th.
The 3 track CD contains:

Watercolour
Gwerthfawr i mi

Full tour schedule should be up in the next few weeks.

Sylem News (May 2001)

Well, lots been happening here since January. Apart from the new split single release
MELYS are planning their new album/single and tour schedule.
The Holland trip in January with John Peel went really well and the outcome, the collaboration with Seedling on the Dutch/UK mini-tour and the Split Vinyl single have been good for both bands.
Seedling have been invited back to play at the Radio One "In the City" for John Peel and will be playing dates with Melys again whilst here.
Their record label in Holland are to release the next Melys single (Chinese Whispering) and so the bond continues.....looks like a third trip to the Netherlands this year.
After the Melys/Seedling joint Peel session (May 16th) the mail received by the Peel show and by us here has been fantastic. Many thanks.
From the label side of things, we are to have a brand new release from Derrero!!!
The band will be in our little studio up here in the sticks recording a mini-album for the Sylem label. It's something we are looking forward to very much.
Welsh band Anweledig are recording in the studio at the moment and a glorious noise it is too.
